Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

1. Overview

TalkText (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a voice-to-text service that transcribes your audio and rewrites it into structured text. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using TalkText you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Account data. When you sign up we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you use Google or another provider, we receive the identifier and email from that provider.

Audio & transcripts. The voice recordings you submit, the raw transcripts produced by our speech engine, and any rewritten text you generate are stored so you can revisit your history.

Payment data. Subscriptions are processed by our payment partner PayPal. We never receive or store your full card number; PayPal shares only the plan, status, and billing country needed to grant access.

Usage & technical data. We log your plan, minutes used, IP address, device type, and basic error reports to operate and improve the service.

3. How we use information

  • To transcribe audio and generate your requested text styles.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To enforce plan limits and process billing through PayPal.
  • To debug, analyze, and improve TalkText.

4. Service providers

We share the minimum data needed with vetted processors:

  • Speech & AI: Alibaba DashScope / SiliconFlow (speech-to-text) and DeepSeek (text rewriting).
  • Storage: Supabase stores your account, audio, and transcripts.
  • Payments: PayPal handles checkout, tax, and subscription lifecycle.
  • Auth: NextAuth manages sign-in sessions.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. Data retention

Audio is deleted shortly after transcription completes. Transcripts and generated text are kept for the life of your account so your history remains available; you can delete individual items or your whole account at any time from the Account page.

7. International transfers

TalkText serves users worldwide, so your data may be processed in the United States and other regions where our providers operate. We rely on our providers’ standard contractual safeguards for any cross-border transfer.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California) you can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and object to certain processing. To exercise these rights email privacy@talktextai.com.

9. Children

TalkText is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Security

We encrypt data in transit (TLS) and at rest, isolate credentials in environment secrets, and restrict access to production systems. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we follow industry practice.
